There is so much to share today, I don’t know where to begin!
First up… Cluaranach, she is finished! Now begins this great internal debate about blocking her. I am of the mindset this morning that I really don’t want to lose all the glorious texture. She needs a bit of a Soak™ wash, but maybe I will just lay her gently out to preserve the texture. TBH, I have never tried to do this before – preserve the unblocked knitting – and I am uncertain that it will work. But, maybe she will be just as wonderful all blocked out to show off the glory of all her stitches… What would you do?

And!! One cleaned up hair cut FTW!! However, I am not likely to be able to “recreate” how my hairdresser styled it did on my own. In all honesty, I possess zero “doing hair” talent at all and I was very torn on what to do with my hair… cut it off or stay the course on growing it a bit longer. But, I am happy to report that I am staying the course! Ponytails (which are not beyond my skills!!) are on the horizon!
Next, my favorite Pittsburgher has some more Nebby-ness in the works. I am especially excited for Nebby #3, which is all about “People Who’ve Written Books Around Here”!! I can’t wait…and have added a few more books to my ever growing “Nebby Reading List”!
Did you see that Brooklyn Tweed has a new yarn coming later this month? The wool comes from Bare Ranch and their Climate Beneficial American Rambouillet wool and I am very excited as the wool is being dyed here in Pennsylvania!
MDK is hosting the “mother of all knitalongs“…
All the Facebook uproar over the past few weeks has me seriously considering my use of the platform, and thanks to Kym’s post I realized just how many things I use that I login to via FB. It is a bit daunting but, this post helped me unlink it from Spotify. Note…this worked, but not as seamlessly as Callie spells it out in her post. Pro-tip if you try this when you need to create a new Spotify account for them to transfer the data from your old account, open a new browser window to do it.
Today’s links are all about the sweater:
Isabell Kraemer’s Jaycee
Katrine’s Froya
Kirsten Kapur’s Cherry Lane and Foxhall Studio
Elizabeth Smith’s Stevie
Caitlin Hunter’s Tegna (which is not new, but showed up this morning in the “Ravelry Hot Right Now” queue…this would be the perfect summer sweater, just sayin’)
That is all I have for this week! Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you back here on Monday!
LOVE the new doo!!! Gorgeous!!!
Don’t block the sweater. If you change your mind, you can block it later.
Absolutely LOVE the links…I haven’t been able to knit for about 6 weeks (maybe longer??) and it is really getting on my nerves. Who knew that tendinitis could hurt so bad??? Ugh.
I am also rubbish at doing hair but since I wear my curly hair short, it works. But, I do need a haircut
And, I have been wanting to knit a Humulus so . . .
You look just beautiful! I love your haircut. And you are so smart to wear your gorgeous sweater for the photo.
For the sweater…well, if you try it on without blocking and love it, then leave it. Give it a spritz or so for a tiny bit of a pull here or there. But really, who says you have to block?
Thanks for the MDK link. I don’t think I’ll join but it is fun to see what a great event their pattern bracket became.
Love your hair!! I have such thick, coarse hair that going short requires skillzzz that I don’t possess (nor wish to)! Ponytails FTW!!
A “light blocking”? I often soak and then just hang or lay out the item to dry — pushing it into shape but not pinning or stretching. Does that make sense?
Love your hair and that unblocked Cluaranach! I’m sure it will look great whether you block or not; I just like that lovely texture. And I’m happy to hear nebby again after many years! My roommate in college was from Pittsburgh and she used it all the time, along with “go red up the room”. Happy weekend!
Love your haircut, Kat! 🙂
I always think blocking (even a light blocking) is a good idea. It looks nice and texture-y now — but just imagine all that lace-y goodness you’ve got going on there. It would be a shame to hide it . . . after all that work.
I have been planning a Tegna for months now. I’ve got the yarn wound and the pattern highlighted and ready to go. It’s just that cast on that’s giving me pause. . .
Have a great weekend.
I think your hair looks great – and that is a wonderful photo of you.
Sigh, “nebby” made me miss home. No one says it (or any iteration of it) on the other side of the state. 🙂
Pretty lady! Your haircut is fabulous. Have a wonderful and hopefully snow-free weekend!
Oooh, looks like the voting is tied right now. I voted to block, because I firmly believe that just about everything (save, say, a dishcloth) needs to be blocked and improves from blocking. You can totally maintain that texture by being extra gentle with it and not stretching it too much.
The haircut looks fab!
Your hair looks cute! (And ponytails rock!)
If you get tired of Cluaranach’ texture — yeah, like that’s gonna happen — you can always block it later. And what a gorgeous photo of you!
Gorgeous YOU! (and ponytails are not beyond you, I promise!) I voted to block the shawl – not drastically, but enough to open the fiber (that wasn’t an option when I voted 🙂 …and I’m still pondering the MDK KAL … more to come! (Happy Weekend!)
Great haircut! Facebook has been invaluable for me as a campaign tool but after today I’ll be ready for a break from some aspects of social media!
I agree with Kym. Don’t give it a “hard block” just open the gorgeous lace. Your hair is perfect! I love that look and wish I some body in my tresses to pull it off. Thankfully I never did use FB to sign into other apps, but I have cut back any usage of FB. We’ll see where it goes.
you look adorable! I don’t like the way my hair dresser styles my hair but I love the cut, go figure. When FB stuff hit the news I was grateful I am not on FB (never have been). So I don’t exist 🙂 Seriously though, anything we do online has us at risk I guess.
