If you recall, I had a good long discussion of this sweater with Mary in which we spent a bit of time doing some knitty maths to determine how to place the pattern on the sweater (since the stitch count did not match the stranded knitting chart). And, so I counted back from my “center back stitch” and began, only to discover I cannot read a chart! So, I carefully un-knit the stitches and recounted and started again. Apparently, twice was not enough so I had to unknitting a second time and start again. Hopefully the solution for wonky math skills + number of sweater stitches + chart stitch count is adding in 3 stitches to make the pattern and my button band pick up work. Sometimes, I really think that overthinking is my major problem in life. Add to that, my ethereal Plutolopi yarn did not stand up to the challenge of being un-knit twice! But, I think I am back on track and forging ahead with the yoke! Hopefully, this solution will be much better!
Now, how about some links?
If you are in the Pittsburgh area, tomorrow is Indie Knit and Spin
This week’s controversy seems to be revolving around the images of this sweater. Personally, I love the images – and the sweater is not bad either.
I am not sure whether this is insane knitting or knitting for the insane.
The texture of this wrap is so appealing!
More Advent Knitting!
Join Hands supports a very worthy cause!
Renovations by Amy King is lovely, as is her dye sense. Want to test knit something for Amy… she has a test knit going with Let’s Do This!
Andrea Mowry has a special that ends tonight with Hoarfrost, The Weekender, and Tincture.
For the directionally challenged…. (like me, lol)
Palmistry now in fingering, dk, and worsted weight!
There are rumors that Beth Smith will be hosting a Spin/Weave Along in January! You can sign up for more information here!
That is all I have for you this week, but…it’s NaBloPoMo so I will see you all back here tomorrow!
I’m thinking this mitts would be perfect for my mom who has to look at her wedding ring to figure out which is right or left. Lol
math is not my strong area but I do have spidey sense (spiderman sense) and know when something is wrong. I think it’s called intuition. I hope you are now on the right track. I cannot figure out what is wrong with the sweater photo….gah. People!
Hopefully the third time is the charm with your sweater! I must admit I’m amused, confused, and saddened by the Hygge sweater controversy. People should knit more and fuss less. Love those direction mitts, so much that I’m seriously considering attempting corrugated ribbing, colorwork, and chart reading! Thank you!
I have not heard about the controversy but I have been looking at the sweater. And I will have to check out that spinning site. I still have spinning on my mind but no idea where to begin.
I was doing OK until I saw the fox socks!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who has problems with charts. I’ve gotten better, but it is still a struggle for me.
As for the non-smiling model controversy, I just can’t believe it even became an issue. Gah.
Above The Woods wrap in the queue! Thank-you! I have the yarn too. But not ’til that Mirehouse is done! TGIF Kat!
I just treated myself to worsted in one skien so Palmistry may be just the pattern! Thanks
I am sorry to hear the sweater (and math) has been misbehaving. I hope it gets in line soon!
Looking forward to finally meeting you IRL tomorrow!
I won’t even tell you how many times I have had to knit, reknit and knit again (and again) my sweater yoke. I have high hopes for the body (which is only stockinette) and for the rest of YOUR knitting to go smoothly. TGIF!
Oh you are a real trooper. I’d have given up a looong time ago…more power to ya! Knit on!
Cheers~
Yikes! …but I’m sure Rusty is going to be fine (and I hope you are, too!) Thank you – as always – for the links. I hadn’t seen the Hygge controversy, but I agree with you wholeheartedly. (and I thought knitters were nice people.)
