Our topic for this week’s Think Write Thursday is to write a post titled “Hello, July”.
For him in vain the envious seasons roll who bears eternal summer in his soul. – Oliver Wendell Holmes, The Old Player
July is the month that I’d like to bottle to open in the middle of January. Imagine it – all those smells of summer, and the sounds of the birds, and all the growing things. July should be preserved with the berries for she is sweet and heady!
And, here we are past the Fourth of July and I’d like to put the brakes on summer. You know, slow it way down and savor every finite detail. It just goes so quickly.
This month will see me complete not one, but two sweaters and perhaps will ring in a bingo or two.
Then there’s that Summer Bucket List that I need to start refocusing on – especially the walking, which has been sporadic at best!
And, maybe – just maybe, if I am lucky July won’t speed by after all!
Want to see what others have to say about July, you will find them all here. If you’d like to join Carole and me for Think Write Thursdays, you can sign up here!
Two sweaters in July! Here’s hoping your Stillwater is speedy (but I know you can do it)!
You are absolutely right that the summer is going by too fast. Why is it that winter, with its short days, seems to go on forever but summer speeds by?
You are so disciplined with summer goals. Good for you. I did join the Year of Projects Ravelry group to make a list of sorts.
Summery goals that I can think of right now:
changing doctors and dentists to our new area (I’ve been going back the 90 minute trip for a year…..enough of that!) I have the dentist, now to meet the doctor.
Keep on twiddle mitt countdown . Enjoy my new love of shawl knitting.
Maintain the weight. I’m still counting points, ugh, and I am maintaining but it s not fun.
MORE porch time. I’m going to make it a daily must. It is a peaceful haven and I’ve been feeling guilty about hanging out there when Fireman is inside. No more!!
I’m with you on the slowing down! It will give us more time for reading and knitting, too!
S-L- O-W and the livin is easy…and since it’s generally too @#$% hot…that’s my posture . Good success with your two sweaters…
Cheers~
PS. And no, I don’t want to bottle up July for future winter days..too @#$% hot…
I want to bottle it! Knit on my friend!
I’ve got to get myself in gear for my summer knitting goals!
Look at you go! July is the month I stop walking as it’s boiling hot in Utah (105 yesterday). I would like the second half of the month to go more slowly so I can catch up on my reading and knitting. Until next week I’m all for speed!
EVERY single post I’ve read so far has talked about slowing down this month to savor it. Bottling it up is a wonderful idea!
Almost as good as bottling it is hanging some sheets or a “winter” nightie on the line… folding it up and putting it away until, say, mid-January. I’ll never forget the first time I inadvertently unfurled in winter something I’d line-dried in summer… so wonderful!
